We are asking parents/family members to lead the ponies for beginner riders. A brief induction is carried out at the time. Please remember to wear sensible footwear (no flip flops or sandals)
Welcome to Pevlings Farm
Established in 1985 our aim at this riding school has always been to provide a safe, friendly and informal stables where you can learn to ride and look after a horse/pony.
We cater for all ages and a variety of abilities. Beginners are welcome and our lessons are aimed more at the leisure rider than the competition rider. We offer lessons in groups or individually on our carefully selected horses and ponies. Our instructors have a wealth of knowledge and experience to make your ride enjoyable. Whilst we cater mainly for children (and there is no minimum age) there are many opportunities for adults, however we are only able to accommodate lightweight riders and currently have a WEIGHT LIMIT OF 12 STONE (76KG).
Alongside our riding school we have 2 stable blocks for DIY liveries.

What to wear for your first lesson - If you do not have correct riding kit - do not worry!
We have riding hats to the latest acceptable standard.
Comfortable jeans/close fitting trousers are fine to start with. Shorts are not suitable to ride in.
Wear a suitable jacket/coat depending on the weather. This must be done up so as not to flap around when you are riding. A top with long sleeves is preferable, although you can wear a polo or t-shirt on sunny days. Vest tops are not suitable riding wear.
Gloves are recommended (but not big bulky ones) and there must be no trailing scarves!
You will need suitable boots or shoes with a smooth sole and small heel. Wellies may be ok for young children, but not for older children, teenagers and adults, and no trainers! We do have some jodhpur boots for your use. If you need to borrow a pair of our boots, please make sure you have socks with you.
If you are leading your child's pony, please make sure you also have suitable footwear. No sandals, flip flops, canvas shoes. You need something to protect your feet, should you get trodden on!
We also have some body protectors should you prefer to wear one. (A body protector is compulsory for cross country riding). If you are going to buy your own body protector, please view the guide below.
If you have your own hat, it must conform to an acceptable standard. You can view and download the current standards here. You only have one head - lets keep it as safe as possible!
If you are going to buy your own hat - please go to a reputable tack shop and get it properly fitted by somebody who has had the appropriate BETA training. |
